Taupo served in the armed force under different service branches. He first served under the Royal Body Guard (RBG) for 31 years from 1988 to 2004 and later was transferred to the Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) in 2004 and served there for thirteen years. His last military rank was Peljab. He joined the museum as a security guard in 2017. Besides, he is skilled in carpentry.
