Driglam Unit

Driglam Namzha is the prescribed carriage of ku (body), sung (expression of thought) and thug (mind) that people adhered to which are still being followed since Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal’s era (1594 -1651) and is one of the main component of cultural expression representing nation’s harmony, unity and sovereignty. The Driglam Unit under the Department of Culture is mandated to document, sensitize and promote the Bhutanese etiquette for posterity. The Unit publishes policies and guidelines related to Driglam Namzha and also provides support in chadri (ceremonial setting) preparation and protocol services.

Jigme Yoezer |

Mr. Jigme Yoezer a specialist in Driglam Namzha (Bhutanese etiquette). He joined the Department of Culture in 2007, after serving as a teacher for 14 years. He is now responsible for managing, coordinating and preserving the cultural heritage of Bhutan through various advocacy and awareness programmes. He authored two books entitled, “Nyerkhoi Driglam Namzha” and “The Bhutanese Art of Harmonious Living”, which serves as a basis for the Bhutanese people from all walks of life, particularly the youth in conducting themselves as Bhutanese in their daily lives. He trains the civil servants on Driglam Namzha and carries out research and is in the process of developing a video upload on Driglam Namzha, to give wider access to the people.

He was awarded patang by His Majesty The King in February, 2024.

Tshering

Tshering | Principle Driglam Officer

He joined the Driglam Division in 2011 carrying 17 years teaching experience. He is a member of Specialist Advisory Team (SAT) of DoC. He was one of the core members in developing contents of the book entitled Nyerkhoi Driglam Namzha. He coordinates the Drangzha (serving) programs during the National Assembly sessions and other National ceremonial programs. Besides, he assists in organizing Driglam Namzha training in the nation.

Lhamchu

Lhamchu | Sr. Driglam Officer

Lhamchu started her career as a Tshogdrung (Secretary to Dzongkhag Tshogdue CM) in the Dzongkhags before joining the Driglam Division in 2017. She assists in organizing Driglam Namzha training in the nation and took part in developing mobile application. She was also one of the core members in developing contents of the book entitled Nyerkhoi Driglam Namzha and other books on Driglam Namzha. She translated the book entitled Zhesai Thoblam into English.

Tshering Penjor

Tshering Penjor | Sr. Driglam Officer

He joined the office of the Driglam Division in 2010 and has worked as Dzongkhag Cultural Officer since 2005 till 2009. He coordinates the Drangzha (serving) programs during the National Assembly sessions and other National ceremonial programs. He also translated the Zheysai Thoblam book into English and is one of the core members in developing contents of the book entitled Nyerkhoi Driglam Namzha and other related books on Driglam Namzha.
